Microsoft is yet struggling to be a strong competitor for messaging apps like HipChat and Slack regardless of a varied portfolio of collaboration services. The sensitively designed bot-laden modern messaging app is not even directly comparable to the Microsoft lineup of services like Skype for Business, Yammer, and SharePoint.
Skype Teams a new tool with group chat capabilities which is more of a direct competitor to Slack is what Microsoft is supposed to be working on. But the tool is currently under test. This tool offers both private and group chats and video and voice calling which are already available on Skype. A desirable feature threaded conversation that slack is working on but hasn’t yet launched will be available with Skype Team mentioned a report.
Skype Team also has a fun part known as the ‘Fun Picker’ which will allow users to add GIFs, memes, and other visual accents. This tool is in sync with the company’s dream of making products that will help people be more productive. Microsoft has a few products in the market for the enterprise sector for instance Skype for Business. Along with a Facebook-style news feed for information sharing, Yammer which Microsoft also acquired in 2012 also offers instant messaging.
