Uber Planning Driverless Cars In Pittsburg

UberResidents of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania can now request a self-driven Uber ride using their Uber app after the company initial tested it back in May. The specially modified Volvo XC90 SUVs fitted with laser, radar, cameras and GPS is what the company is going to use in its self-drive fleet. But for now there will be a person to supervise the whole thing and rides will be free. Hybrid Ford Fusion is the car that the company is using tor this initial trials which explain the company can use other manufacturer’s vehicles to expand its self-driving fleet. Ford promised fully autonomous cars for riding and sharing purpose vehicles by the end of 2021.

 

As 94 percent of the accidents happen due to human error Uber noted that the self-driving cars are safer. Less congestion, more affordable and accessible transport system. “Self-driving cars have the potential to save millions of lives and improve the quality of life for people around the world is what the company believes. The company provided a $ 5.5 million towards the further development and improvement of driverless cars last September.

 

The autonomous trucking service startup Otto was acquired by the ride-hailing company. Uber can now offer a more predictable revenue system, charge higher fees and take a cut of fright.
