Google Cloud all set to face AWS and Azure with its own HSM crypto tool launch

Google Cloud all set to face AWS and Azure with its own HSM crypto tool launchWith AZURE out by Microsoft attracting the tech crowds, Google stands up and proves it’s no less. With the launch of Google Cloud’s Hardware Security Module (HSM) service, it has proved that it’s no less than its competitors alongside joining Amazon Web Services and Microsoft. The main feature of HSM is that it will enable customers to host encryption keys to perform cryptographic operations in FIPS 140-2 Level 3, says their blog post.

Now that the highest level for the FIPS 140-2 standard is Level 4, it aims to provide a complete envelope of protection around the cryptographic module. The internet will enable the detection and response to the prevailing unauthorised attempts with physical access. While Level 3 will require modifications in order to perform using a cryptographic module. Cloud HSM is incorporated with Google’s Cloud Key Management Service (KMS), providing data protection to BigQuery, Google Compute Engine, Google Cloud Storage and DataProc with the help of a hardware-protected key.Product manager Il-Sung Lee explains that the customers always want more options in order to protect their sensitive information and to meet agreements. This is the reason behind Google to be the only cloud provider that encrypts all customer data, she adds.

The clients managing compliance requirements using Cloud HSM can now regulate their mandates using keys and crypto operations within their hardware, writes Lee in the blog post. She adds to the statement by saying that, HSM will provide confirmation relating to cryptographic keys and their hardware boundary while using FIPS 140-2 certified devices.
Earlier the company announced and launch many events such as pre-packaged AI services, contact centres and talent acquisition, NVIDIA’s Tesla P4 GPUs, graphics-intensive and machine learning applications. This clearly shows that Google doesn’t take its market strategies lightly.
